next time you’re in red rock you’ll likely notice the prominent presence of a couple of bicycles. one is from rwanda. it’s made entirely of wood and is surprisingly engineered. wooden bikes just like this are all over the country as a form of transportation. the other bike (the cool looking green and yellow one) was developed to help the coffee farmer of rwanda. it was designed and developed by tom ritchey, and features an extended wheel base, heavy duty tires, all-terrain capability, and, most importantly, a platform that enables loads of up to 300 pounds to be carried. these bikes are being made avaialble to coffee farmers for about $120 through a micro-finance program, and are enabling farmers to get their crops to the washing stations faster. by decreasing the transit time from the harvest to processing, not only do the rwandan farmers get more money for their coffee cherries, but also produce a better tasting cup.

grab a bag of our wooden bike coffee from rwanda, and combine your love of caffeine with some social awareness. red rock donates $1 per pound to project rwanda. help the rwandan coffee farmer. help rebuild the rwandan economy. and enjoy a great cup of coffee while you do it.
