Here are some books (new and not so new) at the Mountain View Public Library that cover topics Highway Community has been discussing at various levels.

Also note, I haven’t read many if any of these… so if you do read or have read any please feel free to comment!

I started this one, and do want to return to it.
I think it would be good to read with at least one other person,
so you can support each others efforts.

I actually HAVE just finished this one. Each chapter is one woman’s story
usually dealing with a specific area - fear, jealousy, finding a voice, etc.
Would be good to read with a couple of other women, as there are
discussion questions at the end of each chapter.
Definitely hits the value of authenticity.

I have read this one as well. Short book, as it is the speech itself,
concerns our response to the poor in the world. Definitely a thought
provoker, discussion opener, and action inspirer.

Currently this book is being read and discussed in Second Hour class at Mountain View Campus of Highway Community.

Other members of the Community may have read this book, as well.
Perhaps you have not been able to come to the Second Hour classes
and have particular questions or thoughts you’d like to discuss.

Maybe you do attend the class, but something struck you while you
were reading this week and don’t want to wait until Sunday!

Welcome to the Highway Book Forum -

Hi, I’m Monica… some of you may know me as Morten’s mom.
I’m a librarian by profession… so when it comes to books :
I’m surrounded by them all day at work and all day at home.

As the moderator of the Highway Book Forum, I hope to create
a place where the community can share what we are reading
and how it has effected us.

I’m still thinking about how to organize this all.

Meanwhile I thought I’d start with “Where to find something to read?”

In the next few days I’ll be posting a list of books that can be found at the library
in Mountain View. These are not so much recommendations, just books that seemed
to relate to issues that we have been discussing as a community (i.e. from Sundays or
Tuesdays or Youth Group)

The poll is just for fun… choose whichever one seems to happen the most.

I look forward to reading more!
