<p>Responsibilities:<br />
Effectively coordinate with stakeholders (staff, volunteers, community partners and the grant monitor at the California State Library) to implement the terms of the Project BEST grant.<br />
Responsibilities include:</p>

<p> *&nbsp;  Developing a publicity plan to create community awareness of resources for job seekers/those seeking the food handlers&#8217; card<br />
 *&nbsp;  Making presentations to community groups on the services provided under the grant<br />
 *&nbsp;  Developing a plan to recruit and support volunteers to help job seekers/food handlers<br />
 *&nbsp;  Ensuring that resources (staff, technology, space and supplies) are available as required to implement project activities<br />
 *&nbsp;  Proactively building community partnerships to enhance resources available to job seekers/those seeking food handlers&#8217; card<br />
 *&nbsp;  Setting up a system for data collection and evaluation to streamline reporting of grant outputs/outcomes<br />
 *&nbsp;  Managing the grant budget in a fiscally responsible manner<br />
 *&nbsp;  Ensuring that quarterly and final reports are completed on time</p>

<p>Minimum Qualifications:<br />
*&nbsp;  &nbsp;  &nbsp;  At least two years of college education required<br />
*&nbsp;  &nbsp;  &nbsp;  Education and/or experience in marketing/business</p>

<p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p>

<p> *&nbsp;  Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders in the library and the community<br />
 *&nbsp;  Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds<br />
 *&nbsp;  Strong communication skills, both oral and written<br />

<p>The <b>Library Technology Aide</b> provides assistance to the public using a variety of library automation equipment, applications,<br />
electronic resources and audio-visual equipment. The Library Technology Aide ensures that automation and audio-visual equipment functions properly. This position is the entry-level position for technology support positions in the Library.</p>

<p>Knowledge and Ability: Must have knowledge of basic PC operations, standard desktop applications and operating systems, computer peripheral devices and audio-visual equipment.<br />
Must be able to troubleshoot routine technology problems and recognize and report complex problems to the appropriate supervisor. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.</p>

<p>Must have a minimum of one year full-time work experience with responsibility for<br />
troubleshooting and fixing personal computers, applications and related technology. High<br />
School diploma or equivalent highly desirable.</p>

<p><b>Required Hours:<br />
This opening is for the following hours: Mondays and Tuesdays 6:00-9:00 pm, Wednesdays<br />
3:00-9:00 pm. The applicant must be available all of these hours in order to be eligible for<br />
consideration.</b></p>

THE POSITION<br />
The City of Mountain View is seeking an energetic and motivated individual with strong technical, customer service and people skills to work in the Library as a Library Assistant I/II. The current opening is for a part-time (20 hours/week) position in Customer Services.</p>

<p>An eligibility list will be established for future openings in Customer Services and Support Services.<br />
Customer Services is responsible for customer accounts and all matters related to the lending of Library<br />
materials, including greeting customers; assisting with Library card, registration and orientation to the Library building,<br />
services and policies; resolving account problems; and performing a variety of related clerical and customer assistance<br />
tasks. Support Services catalogs and processes Library materials and maintains the Library database. Strong<br />
verbal communication and computer skills are essential.</p>

<p>The Mountain View Public Library has recently completed a major renovation and reorganization, including implementing<br />
materials handling equipment and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. Nearly 2,500 people<br />
visit each day and almost 1.5 million items are loaned each year.</p>

<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<br />
Any combination of experience and training will qualify if it provides for the required knowledge and abilities.</p>

<p>Library Assistant I: One year of clerical and/or library experience. Equivalent<br />
to the completion of the 12th grade.</p>

<p>Library Assistant II: Two years of experience performing duties similar to a Library Assistant I in the City of<br />
Mountain View. Equivalent to an associate&#8217;s degree or Library Technician degree.</p>

<p>MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS KNOWLEDGE OF: Library Assistant I:<br />
English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; office methods, computer equipment and customer service<br />
philosophy. Library Assistant II: In addition to the minimum knowledge and skills for Library Assistant I, library<br />
classification filing system; library terminology and procedures related to area of responsibility; library and other<br />
computer applications and operation; organization, procedures and operating details of a library.</p>

<p>ABILITY TO: Assist Library patrons in utilizing Library services; act as desk supervisor at the Circulation Desk;<br />
check items in and out; answer telephone and in-person inquiries concerning Library services; receive<br />
payments for overdue items; monitor overdue items; remind patrons of responsibility for returning materials;<br />
operate a personal computer; communicate effectively; perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving heavy<br />
Library materials; learn library classification and filing systems; learn library terminology and processing<br />
procedures; learn computer application in a library environment; establish and maintain effective working relationship.</p>

Will be required to work regular evenings, weekends and some holidays.</p>
