Stations of the Cross
Stations of the cross is our interactive Good Friday experience – a slight variation on the ancient church liturgy.
The Stations of the Cross, sometimes called ‘The Way of the Cross’ or ‘Via Crucis,’ began in medieval Europe as a way for Christians to take a figurative pilgrimage to the Holy Land without leaving their home country. Artists would render works based on Christ’s journey to Calvary, and place them in succession, either inside a church building, or outdoors. Worshipers would walk the route, stopping in prayer and devotion at each ‘station.’
In kind, we stage an interactive, spiritual art-walk on the Mountain View campus, the goal of which is to reflect on the suffering and passion of Jesus. The exhibit is open for several hours, and live music and worship is scheduled throughout. At the last station, communion is offered.
We hope you can make it out to one of our favorite traditions at Highway. The exhibit will be open Friday, April 22, from 7:00-10:00pm at our Mountain View campus, with live worship at 7:45 and 8:45pm.
